This design belongs to the Barozzi and Veiga Studio, and recently has won the “Leaf Award” prize, in the young architects category.

The interpretation, related with the deep searching, gives opportunity to the knowledge desire that supports all the artistic expresion, and the architecture, related with the artistic practice, solely can be expressed like interpretation, and the real thing, it’s its knowledge space.

The shown project, is based in a particular interpretation of its owned space reality. Its objetive is to give the difference where the things that are around it can be housed: The city, the countryside, the atmospheres, the ones which this project could return , like a mirror, their own reflect.

The place has been sculped by the city, the countryside, and the project, simply, interprets this assumption, drawing the essencial traces where can be shown the differences that could bring nearer the possibility to understand to things around.

So, this building can be understood, like a singularizing project of its enviroment, like a transition element between the urban sides where it’s built and the natural countryside that confronts with, interpreting both sides like identitary elements of the place. With these strains, this building moves , addapting, and giving architectonical shape to the main differences between the urban and rural sides, synthesysing both , and creating a building that explains its condition of being between this different worlds.

This project starts giving a material view to to existent piece, claryfing the needing of new definition of an finished element at the same time with a temporal disconection of this new piece. This element is configured like a dependent one, with the old rules keeps being inside, but showing the impossibility of the authentic definition of the historical traces.
From this element, having in mind the re-definition of the context in a small scale of the urban side, this project takes independence and moves to the big scale, towards the far-away countryside, definining an independent element able to confront with the distance. An element emerges that gives a different continuity with the comtext, with its iconical elements, and creates a dialogue with the plateau of Castille, and monumental side of the landscape, identifying it like an non-temporal monolith.

The creation of the project, all covered with stone of the zone, is understood like a intensifying of this place character, ginving the chave of a re-building for the sensorial landspace sensitivity discovering. The treatment of openings, could suggest and open the space of the difference, locatting the project in its radically contemporary condition.
In the frontier of the urban side, appears this project, and in this place this building takes tha landscape and moves towards it, asumming the esencial condition of all architecture: floating between the basic needings and the discovering of the perennial movement to the distance.
