Revolving Skyscraper in Dubai
Dubai (United Arab Emirates) continues surprising in architecture, now with the building of a revolving skyscraper.
It is a 250m tall tower, with 59 floors, which will be mounted on a central core, made of reinforced concrete, which will be the rotation axis. The floors will be prefabricated and later assembled to the core of the building.
Each one of the floors will have an apartment and will rotate independently from the rest of the floors. Rotation speed will be very low, imperceptible for the building’s inhabitants.
The tower will be equipped with wind and solar energy generating systems. At first is estimated that the tower’s rotation energy demand will be provided by the self generating systems.
The project has been ideated in Italy, by a team composed by David Fisher, Fabio Bettazzi, Leslie Robertson and Marco Sala. There is not a date for start the building yet, but is estimated, that once started the construction, it will last two years. The cost will be around 500 million dollars (410 million euro more or less).
