Commerzbank (not Comerzbank) Tower is located in one of the European capitals of height construction, Frankfurt. It is the highest building in Germany and all western Europe.
The highest office floor does not reach 200 meters, but one of its 3 eccentric nuclei, enclosing installations, allows the building to reach 258.7 meters in height.
Besides, it has a metallic structure with the shape of an antenna that reaches 300 meters, but the height reached by this type of elements is never considered when measuring the true height of a building. This structure is intended as a light signal.
Commerzbank Tower has a useful surface of 121,000 m2, and it is the headquartes of the bank which name holds.
Its construction took part between 1994 and 1997. It a Foster and Partners’ design. It is provided with a spectacular night illumination designed by Thomas Ende.
When it was built, it was only 2 meters higher than the tallest skyscraper in Europe at that moment, Messeturm.
