Trump International Hotel & Tower, Chicago / SOM
Chicago will have in the next decade the tallest building in the United States but, until then, the Sears Tower will continue to be the ceiling of the city and the country. While the city waits for the construction of the big tower designed by Santiago Calatrava, another big skyscraper raises besides one of the canals that flows into the Michigan lake.
It is the Trump International Hotel & Tower, promoted by one the most known promoters in the States, Donald Trump.
The tower WAS designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, also known as som, who also designed the Sears Tower and the Burj Dubai.
The building is under construction since march 05 and it is expected to be finished in 2009. Nowadays, we can count around 25 floors, nearly all of the them windowed.

The building will have 96 floors, rising up around 345 m. upon the installation of the antenna, the building will reach 415m.

Wow, engineers just keeps pushing the limits of human capabilities, hope that this building will really come into fruition, this is a new and challenging feat for both the financiers and engineers alike..
